Dancemark Studio offers a youth dance program in the South Bay area, with enrollment and registration “ongoing” throughout the year. We are dedicated to the development and the education of the art of dance. Our studio provides instruction to children from the age of 2 through 18 in a variety of dance genre, including jazz, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, tap and acrobatics.  Dancemark Studio is also proud to offer Paula Morgan Technique classes!! Paula Morgan is a specialized technique combining classical ballet, yoga, and pilates, which creates a foundation for impeccable strength, flexibility, and proper body alignment for dance.

Dancemark Studio “Company” competes in local, regional, and national competitions and performs throughout the community during the year! Joining “Company” helps develop camaraderie, sportsmanship, and provides a high level of dance training and unique opportunity to perform. “Company” is a team experience and a great way to make life-long friends. Bios:

Denise Marie Jerome – Owner / Artistic Director:

During her younger years, Denise grew up training at a dance studio in Florida and taking master classes from world renowned teacher, Mia Michaels. She participated and won top titles in nationally recognized conventions and competitions such as Tremaine and Hoctor’s Dance Caravan then eventually judged for Showbiz, Star Power, US Spirit Leaders, and UDA/UCA. Denise started teaching, choreographing, and working in the professional dance industry at the early age of 16. She landed her first principal dance roles in a “WDZL TV” commercial and feature film, “Stardancer”, at the age of 17. She continues to dance throughout high school and received a prestigious dance scholarship to Florida State University School of Dance & College of Fine Arts. Her training in college was focused on dance repertory ranging from traditional classical dance and choreography to contemporary original works with an emphasis in Martha Graham technique. After graduating college, she danced her way to Hollywood. She was fortunate to obtain representation by a top dance agency in Los Angeles, which lead to the start of her career as a professional dancer/choreographer.

As a professional dancer in Los Angeles for over 15 years, Denise has performed and toured with many artists including Prince, P. Diddy, Beyonce, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Mayte, Busta Rhymes, Salt N Pepa, Baby Face, Sisqo, N.O.R.E., Alanis Morissette, Patti LaBelle, and Los Temerarios. She has worked in many entertainment mediums alongside celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Ice Cube, Penelope Cruz, Burt Reynolds, Vince Vaughn, Andy Dick, Dom DeLuise, Leah Remini, Ashley Simpson, Paris Hilton, Carrot Top, Adam Sandler, Bruce Springsteen, Tori Spelling, Ron Moss, Mike Epps, Rob Schneider, Magic Johnson, Wayne Gretzky, Terry Bradshaw, John Madden, and Ichiru. Denise has also worked with renowned directors such as John Landis, Steve Carr, Quincy Jones, Tom Brady, and Spike Lee and top choreographers such as Jamie King, Tina Landon, Mia Michaels, Travis Payne, Marguerite Derricks, Divine, Rey Lozano, and Michael Rooney. She has also appeared in national commercials as a principal dancer (Carl’s Jr., Coca Cola, ATT,  Pepsi, Burger King, Old Navy, Nike, Sketchers, Budweiser, and Kraft), television shows (ER, General Hospital, Soul Train Awards, BET Awards, VH1 Awards, MTV, Billboard Awards, Young and the Restless, X-Files, That 80’s Show and Beverly Hills 90210) and several feature films. In addition, Denise was the dance team “Artistic Director” for several sport franchises including the Anaheim Arsenal (NBA D League), Los Angeles Avengers (AFL), Anaheim Storm (NLL), and The Elite League (IPH).  She was also the head artistic director, head instructor, and head choreographer for Universal Dance Association for many years. Over the years, Denise has been able to fuse experience in the professional dance industry along with the sports industry as a professional dancer, choreographer, artistic director, costume designer, casting director, producer and business owner. Denise became founder of Jerome Entertainment, Inc. in 2004 which developed business opportunities working with major motion picture studios, television networks and global brands. Denise was represented by William Morris Agency & partnered with DeBose Entertainment in 2008 in the development of her reality show,  Dance America. Currently she is in the process of creating a new reality show, stay tuned! Denise has been the owner of Dancemark Studio since 2011. A graduate of Florida State University, Denise majored in marketing with a minor in dance, and was the captain/choreographer of the Seminoles’ “Golden Girls” dance team. She went on to be a dancer for the NBA’s Miami Heat, before moving to Los Angeles, where she was a dancer/choreographer with the Los Angeles Laker Girls. Denise serves on the Dancer Alliance Board of Directors and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. She has been a member of the Sandpipers, a South Bay Women’s Volunteer Philanthropic Organization since 2014.

Stephanie Nuruki – Owner / Operations & Competition Director:

Stephanie was born and raised in Southern California. She began dancing and performing at the age of 5 at the Academy of Dance, training extensively in ballet and tap, and later training en pointe and jazz. Stephanie grew up attending various conventions and competitions with her studio, winning top overall team awards.

Stephanie graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Applied Science and a specialization in Business and Administration. While at UCLA, she was very active in student organizations including the Nikkei Student Union. For five years, Stephanie was a key participant in their annual Cultural Night show, which performed for audiences of over 1,200 people with an annual budget of $15,000-20,000. Stephanie was a main dancer in the musical theater, hip hop, and Japanese cultural dances, and she also acted in the shows. During her last year, Stephanie also directed the Cultural Night show, which included two plays, and three dances. She choreographed one of the dances for the show and was a main dancer in all dances as well. Following UCLA, she continued her dance training in tap, ballet, and jazz at EDGE Performing Arts Center in Hollywood, California.

Following UCLA, Stephanie started working as a business consultant, providing strategy, process improvement, and project management support to banks and insurance companies. She worked for the same firm for over 20 years, and was a Principal and the Chief Administrative Officer.

Stephanie continues to mentor and train dancers at the studio, both at the elite competitive level and recreational level. Stephanie helps coordinate the training and evaluation of all elite competitive dancers, mentors and schedules teachers / classes, participates in the audition process to choose the competition teams, finalizes teams and schedules, schedules regional and national competitions, and serves as the primary liaison with the competition companies.

Stephanie is married and is a proud mom of two.

 

Gaby Zavala:

Gaby has been dancing since the age of 4. She has trained in various styles of dance including jazz, lyrical, ballet and contemporary.

She has many years of performance experience as a member of “Company”. Over the years she attended several conventions and local, regional and national dance competitions. She won numerous overall awards and high point achievements for her jazz and lyrical solos. She was a member of 6 teams in 2010 that won the “Battle of the Stars” and “Showbiz Grand Championships.”

After graduating high school, Gaby started assisting classes then starting teaching at Dancemark Studio. She has been teaching creative movement, princess ballerina, ballet / lyrical, and competition team / solo classes at Dancemark Studio for over 4 years!

Gaby graduated from El Camino College receiving an A.A. in Liberal Studies. She is continuing her schooling at Cal State Long Beach, studying to be a special education teacher.

Amanda Kotero:

Amanda started dancing at the age of 3. Since her first dance class she has been completely in love with the art of dance.  Growing up, she trained at a dance studio and participated in “Company” for her entire youth life with an emphasis in jazz, lyrical and ballet. She was selected to compete on several “Elite” teams, solos, trios and duets over the years. Some of her most recognizable awards she received at highly competitive dance competitions were taking 1st overall National Champion at Showbiz Dance Competition, 1st runner up for Miss Showbiz Dance Competition, and Miss IDC (International Dance Champion) in Las Vegas finals.

Amanda started student teaching dance classes while she was at Diamond Dance Academy.  She quickly realized that she loved not only the art of dancing, but the craft of choreography.  Amanda has been teaching and choreographing for Dancemark Studio since 2011.  She has received many special choreography awards at competitions for her artistic works, recently receiving the Entertainment O!ward at Bravo Regionals. Her other accomplishments included a 1st Place Overall Jazz Large Group at Spotlight and BravO! in 2017, 2nd Place Overall Jazz Small Group at Spotlight Nationals in 2016, 1st Place Overall Solo at Spotlight Regionals in 2014, 1st Place Overall Solo at Star Systems in 2013 and 1st Place Overall Jazz Small Group at KAR & Rainbow in 2013.

Amanda has been featured in various commercials and was a dancer for the Skechers Fashion Show. She recently worked on the Palos Verdes High School Fashion Show as a guest choreographer.

Amanda’s favorite part of teaching dance is getting to experience the growth of her students over the years and being able to push her dancers to achieve greatness.  Her biggest philosophy is encouraging students and making them feel confident not only as a dancer, but as a person in society.

Diawn Premmer:

Diawn has been dancing and performing since the age of 4.  She is a Los Angeles native who has trained extensively in jazz and lyrical while also studying ballet, tap, acro and later branching out into jazz funk.

During her younger years, Diawn attended numerous conventions and competitions winning top overall awards for teams and solos. She was a recipient of a year-long scholarship with LA Dance Magic (LADM) and was awarded a dance conventions scholarship with West Coast Dance Explosion (WCDE).

It is this culmination of many years of training, performance experience, and passion that has lead Diawn to become a teacher and choreographer. She has been teaching for the past 11 years and started teaching for Dancemark Studio in 2011. Diawn has been recognized for her outstanding artistic work by several local, regional, and national competitions. Her prestigious awards include 1st Overall at KAR Nationals in 2017, “Outstanding Performance O!ward”, “Outstanding Choreography” and 1st Place Overall at BravO! in 2016, “Best Primary Choreographer” at KAR Nationals in 2015 and “Best Jazz Choreography”, and “Best Lyrical Choreography” at Star Systems Nationals in 2013. She was recently awarded the Choreography O!ward at Bravo Regionals.  Over the years, Diawn led many teams and solos to 1st Place Overall and took home the KAR National Grand Championship title in 2015 and the Star Systems National Grand Championship title in 2013.
